Lando Norris told to 'grow bigger balls' as F1 icon questions Oscar Piastri reaction

Norris questioned for his reaction after McLaren team-mate Ricciardo announced he would be leaving the team at the end of the season

Formula 1 icon Martin Brundle has told Lando Norris he needs to 'grow bigger balls' after he questioned Oscar Piastri's reaction to securing his McLaren seat for 2023, during an interview at the Dutch Grand Prix. Norris told Sky Sports that he found Piastri's reaction to the news 'strange' because he was not smiling or celebrating when he found out he would be racing for McLaren next season. Norris said: "I've been around for a short period of time, but to see someone get their first Formula 1 seat and not have a smile on their face, it's strange for me to understand. "I'd be buzzing if I was him. It's your dream come true to be in Formula 1. It's a bit strange." Brundle has since hit out at Norris for his comments, saying that he needs to 'grow bigger balls' and that Piastri's reaction was understandable given the circumstances. Brundle said: "Lando needs to grow bigger balls. Piastri had just been told that the man he believed to be his team-mate next year had been fired to make way for him. "He was also told that he would be partnering a driver who had just publicly questioned his commitment and desire. "I think Piastri's reaction was perfectly understandable. He was probably just trying to process all the information he had just been given." Norris has since apologized for his comments, saying that he was 'taken aback' by Piastri's reaction and that he did not mean to offend him. Norris said: "I was just taken aback by his reaction, I didn't mean to offend him. "I've spoken to him since and I've apologized. I understand that he was probably just trying to process all the information he had just been given."
